The Delta State Police Commissioner, Zana Ibrahim, on Saturday paraded one Chinedu Strongson, 48, the founder and pastor of Gospel Fire Army Ministry, Nkwele-Ogidi, Anambra State, over alleged child abduction and trafficking in persons.
According to reports, the Pastor who is a popular radio preacher allegedly paid N400,000 for each of the children sold to him.
The pastor was arrested following investigations into a complaint by one Aisha Yahaya of how two ladies came to her house at Okpanam, Asaba as police detectives sent by her husband serving at Ogwashi Uku prisons.
Yahaya said that she followed the ladies to a junction where they met one Abigail Nwakama, a.k.a Madam Cash, who has a shop at Stop Abortion junction along St Brigids Rd; gave her N3, 500 to care of herself and buy clothes for her one-month old baby.
She added that the child was allegedly stolen from her by the group, which made her report the matter to the police, who swung into action and arrested the two ladies.
12 children have been recovered and 2 parents have come to claim their children while 10 other children have been sent to St Barnabas Orphanage Asaba pending identification by their families. The suspected criminals aside ‘Madam Cash’ are Nnoruka Obioma, Chidinma Anikwesiri 20yrs, Onyinye Nwakama 11yrs- daughter of Abigail Nwakama, Ifeoma Anyadike 32yrs.
They confessed to the crime and led detectives to Ogidi in Anambra State where the 12 suspected stolen children were recovered from Pastor Chinedu Strongson 48yrs of Gospel Fire Ministry, David Ikesinachi, Ebere Edwin, Adaeze Enyi 22yrs, and Chike Agwunenu 55yrs.
